Shania Twain – Up! (2002)

Real quick blurb today as I continue the day’s list of things to do. Just a couple more things, so I’m taking a breather by catching up on computer stuff (not really a phone-first kinda guy – I like a real PC with a very large monitor). I did all the necessary updating so now I’m here, throwing some new content into the void that is this place’s “audience”. In truth I haven’t looked for a few days (lazy!), but I see no signs of life.

Last time I checked it was hovering just above negative numbers, with nary a comment and extremely occasional likes. It has not improved. The tune a day thing seems not to have exploded as I’d hoped, but I’m all about dogged persistence if it can be done sitting down, so I’ll keep on foisting the daily tune until physically restrained from doing so, and I don’t think WordPress can do that legally.

Man can I blather! Today’s tune is one I’ve loved since I first heard it, though I’m not entirely sure when that was. I don’t recall it being on the radio where I was, so I may not have found it until years after its release. In any case I was immediately smitten.

I’m a real sucker for a nice shiny 3 minute pop gem, the more “melodic” the better. “Up!” does all that as well as any song I could name, with a simple but effective bag of melodic tricks that my Beatles-trained ears find highly satisfying. Plus it’s fun as hell to sing! I remember mentioning that recently and I’m now wondering if it was here. Did I already post this tune? You tell me (if there is a you):

Best I can gather with cursory research (lazy!) is that no, I’d have remembered the Youtube search results and the fact that this is not a video clip like we’ve seen the last few days. I could be completely mistaken though. I’m foisting it anyway because I’m the boss here. No Springsteen puns are leaping to mind, so I’m leaving it as is. If anyone’s reading, thanks! If not go fuck yourself… The images above may be helpful if that’s your orientation. (I was gonna say “thing” but went fancy with it.) Bye!
