Music and more with claudecat17 (aka Chris Davlin)!

I was reminded of this one by using the title in my little Daily Drivel thing, now with less whining! I like how that part works. It’s not a post and doesn’t get saved anywhere, just edited each day to update the baseball stuff and keep a little ephemeral personal diary/therapy notes. It gives me a place to overreact to idiots, shout at clouds, etc. which is helpful somehow. It disappears with every new day, whenever that may begin for yours truly. Nothing on my permanent record! Yay!

This particular tune is one of Cannonball’s most iconic pieces, this performance in particular. The fellas sure look happy and relaxed there on Hermosa Beach, and why wouldn’t they be? I’d give anything to play jazz at that level! Maybe some day, but I doubt it honestly. These guys are serious players, with a deep depth of knowledge that I can never hope to shove into my brain in time. It’s a race between a newly jazzed up noggin (internally, still the same on the outside!) and my failing body parts! I’ll keep nobody posted, right here amongst the drivel…

I love Cannonball! I continue to seek a tune that I had on a cassette way back when. It had an extended piece where he gets pretty wild with his solo, like honking and shit. It reminded me of middle eastern prayer guy chanting somehow. No luck so far. I think it was live. Feel free to share, nobody, should you happen to know.

You’d be the first to comment in direct response to anything here. I had a straggler from the old tumblr blog that pops up occasionally, and he probably reads things or checks the baseball stuff maybe, but other than that it’s been crickets, and the serenity that comes with accepting that literally nobody that could possibly give a single fuck about me or anything I write about here will ever bother me. That’s important, now more than ever as bothersome things have become increasingly overwhelming!

But just enjoy the tune, you nonexistent specter, free of care. Let it do what it does. It can make you feel pretty good if you like jazz, but you’d have to be real for that. I’m trying to live a more reality based life now. I’ve been in my head too long, and it gets ugly in there sometimes!
